What brand/model laptop is study/ruged, that will last long with good RAM and CPU?

I dont need a super industrail steel unbreakable monster LOL. But my sony vaio vgn-fe700g is SO flimsy. I just want one that is made stronger, not thin cheap plastic. (like the sony vaio pcg-nv170 i use to have). But i also need it to have at least 2 GB RAM and a good CPU, at least 2GHz. What brand/model is like that? I want a good one that will last and is quick and efficient.
