What happens to professional athletes' game-used gear (e.g. NBA players' shoes, NFL jerseys)?

If they're changed often, what happens to the old ones? How come there aren't many online markets that sell such memorabilia? e.g. There are 82 games in an NBA season. If a player wears new shoes every game, how come I don't see 82 pairs of game-worn shoes on sale?
