What are some little trinkets I can send in the mail without having to go super crazy for the cost of postage?

me and my friends are now in college far away from each other so we wanted to do something like they did sisterhood of the traveling pants where they sent jeans to each other but,i wanted just to send letters to all of them with little trinkets in them but i really can't think of any. suggestions?
